The Green McAdoo Cultural Organization (GMCO) is a group of committed volunteers desiring to preserve the legacy and memory of the Green McAdoo School and the events of desegregation in Clinton while seeking national recognition for the 12 students that integrated Clinton High School in 1956. GMCO was formed in 2004 as a non-profit 501(c)3 cultural heritage organization to preserve and represent the history of integration in Clinton in a cultural heritage museum that will honor all of the citizens of Clinton – both black and white – who worked for integration and equality and to promote the history of education in Anderson County. This school building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in October 2005.

Mission Statement: To be an inclusive, community based, non-profit organization preserving the legacy of education in Anderson County with an emphasis on Clinton’s (Tennessee) public high school desegregation.
